Many families struggle to find the balance between advocating for their children and collaborating with their school’s IEP team.  This difficulty can be especially challenging for Latino families, who face additional barriers due to language differences, power imbalance, and lack of cultural awareness.  Special Kids Connect family support specialists have developed tools and strategies to help families not just overcome these obstacles but thrive as active participants in the IEP decision-making process.  In this workshop, SKC’s team will share their strategies for supporting Latino families in understanding their rights, building positive parent-school relationships, and filling families’ self-advocacy toolboxes.
