The team will review the history of low family participation in this rural multidistrict SELPA. The Shasta SELPA went from two members representing zero LEAs to a core of active members, a dozen families attending, and four LEA representatives. We will talk about how we leveraged AB 130 funds to build relationships with family empowerment agencies, participate in community outreach activities, and actively recruit members. This included inviting parents actively engaged in heated disputes to attend CAC meeting. Finally, the team will share how you can do the same in your area.
