IEP meetings often represent a stressful time for families who have students with disabilities.  Power dynamics, past events and trauma present unique challenges to all families.  This presentation will bring awareness to these issues and find ways to overcome them by highlighting the importance of a strong preparation, collaboration and communication. This presentation focuses on the parent’s perspective of the IEP process and meeting.  Developing this Synergy can help parents participate in a meaningful way, and IEP teams prevent disputes.  This will foster a family centered approach to IEP's.
